We created a Latin American hub that allowed Spanish-speaking business owners to navigate the English-only eBay global platform. This platform transformed opportunities for business owners by giving them access to the massive selling platform. The platform, crececonebay.com, became an educational space for LATAM vendors to learn about selling through eBay as well as served as a community of support through a concierge and guided experience.

THE CHALLENGE
One of the biggest challenges on this project was onboarding LATAM vendors through eBay’s complex English-only signup process. The process was lengthy and there was no way to modify, duplicate, or “mask” the English-only platform. We had to get creative to provide guidance and make sense of a complex selling system that business owners couldn’t understand. From the community side, we also needed to attract, onboard, and grow the number of LATAM entrepreneurs using the platform to make it all worth it.
What we did
We mapped out the entire current onboarding and selling process, including key account decisions sellers make when setting up their businesses. We created educational “guides” in Spanish that allow sellers to navigate the platform; this served as the start to a massive educational business library for LATAM sellers. We built a site that allowed sellers to onboard in Spanish, which then sent and categorized their accounts to a bilingual eBay team that was capable of following up across the English platform. We created a process that identified high-value sellers and triggered a full concierge support service directly from eBay to the seller.

The result
An all-Spanish language onboarding process with a concierge was implemented for LATAM eBay vendors, which was later extended into a full-blown educational platform that still serves thousands of SMBs to this day. Business opportunities for LATAM sellers was forever changed, for the better. In just the first six months, 4,244 leads were received through the site, 1,930 sellers completed the onboarding process and became full registered vendors on eBay.
